Our Story

Building financial confidence through education, one person at a time

How We Started

Back in 2019, I was working as a financial advisor in Toronto when something really struck me. Client after client would come in completely overwhelmed by basic financial concepts. These weren't people who lacked intelligence — they were doctors, teachers, engineers. But somehow, nobody had ever taught them how money actually works.

The breaking point came when a brilliant software developer told me she'd been living paycheck to paycheck despite earning six figures. She was embarrassed, almost ashamed. That's when I realized we had a massive education gap, not a knowledge gap.

"Financial literacy isn't about being smart with money — it's about having the right tools and knowledge to make informed decisions."

So I started Venejo-Pivabi with a simple mission: make financial education accessible, practical, and judgment-free. We moved our base to Clinton, Ontario, where we could focus on building something that actually helps people instead of just selling them products.

Marcus Chen

Founder & Lead Financial Educator

With over 12 years in financial services and a Master's in Financial Planning from York University, Marcus has helped thousands of Canadians take control of their money. Before founding Venejo-Pivabi, he worked with major banks and independent advisory firms, but grew frustrated with the industry's focus on selling products rather than educating clients. He holds his CFP designation and is a member of the Financial Planning Association of Canada. When he's not creating educational content, you'll find him hiking the Bruce Trail or experimenting with new teaching methods.
